Qualcomm Technologies has unveiled the Snapdragon® X2 Elite Extreme and Snapdragon® X2 Elite, expanding its Snapdragon X Series portfolio for Windows PCs. With a focus on performance, power efficiency, and AI acceleration, the new platforms illustrate Qualcomm’s intent to strengthen its position in the PC ecosystem.

Snapdragon X Elite2

Ultra-Premium Tier: Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme

The Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is positioned at the high end of the market. It incorporates the 3rd Gen Qualcomm Oryon™ CPU, which Qualcomm reports delivers up to 75% faster CPU performance at ISO power versus competitors. The new Adreno GPU architecture achieves a 2.3X improvement in performance per watt compared to the previous generation. Additionally, the integrated Hexagon NPU provides 80 TOPS, making it the most powerful NPU currently available in laptops. These capabilities are aimed at workloads such as agentic AI applications, computational analytics, and professional media editing.

Premium Tier: Snapdragon X2 Elite

The Snapdragon X2 Elite addresses a broader premium segment. Qualcomm claims it delivers 31% faster performance at ISO power and consumes up to 43% less power than the prior generation. Designed for productivity, creativity, and entertainment, the platform enables thin and light PC designs that can support Copilot+ and other concurrent AI-driven experiences, even when operating unplugged.

Broader Industry Context

The inclusion of a high-performance NPU across both platforms reflects the PC industry’s shift toward AI-native computing. Hardware-level AI acceleration is becoming a differentiating factor in performance and user experience, with implications for both software development and ecosystem adoption.

Availability

Devices powered by the Snapdragon X2 Elite series are expected to reach the market in the first half of 2026. This launch underscores Qualcomm’s growing ambitions in the Windows PC category, where it seeks to compete alongside established players such as Intel, AMD, and Apple.
