Prabhu RamRealme, the young smartphone startup that started-off as a sub-brand of OPPO in 2018, has grown tremendously over the past year. The Realme strategy playbook has focused on packing their smartphones, with all the right mix of the latest specs and combining it with youth-centric marketing. As a result, smartphone brands such as Xiaomi, are feeling the heat.
The Realme 3 Pro sports a 6.3-inch full-screen display, with a dew-drop notch and covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
On the back of the Realme 3 Pro, Realme has incorporated 82 carved metal lines giving a swirl pattern underneath a transparent plate. As per Realme, this unique S pattern is inspired by the famous 24-hour Le Mans motor race.
The Realme 3 Pro smartphone brings the Snapdragon 710 processor in the mid-range segment, paired with four or six GB of RAM. It comes with the same camera system that showed-up in OnePlus 6T, and a 4045 mAh battery, backed by incredibly fast charging via the Super VOOC 3.0. In comparison, the Redmi Note 7 comes with the older Snapdragon 660 chipset.
The rear camera system on the Realme 3 Pro includes a dual camera panel, comprising of a Sony IMX519-driven 16MP camera alongwith a 5MP camera. This is the same IMX 519 camera sensor that appears in the OnePlus 6T. What Realme has been able to achieve is to pack top-end specs, in such a affordable smartphone.
On the front, the Realme 3 Pro has a 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display, and sports a 25MP camera.
Coming to the 4045 mAh battery, the Realme 3 Pro is equipped with VOOC Flash Charge 3.0, that gives >50% battery charging in 30 minutes.
Realme comes with ColorOS 6.0, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie.
There are some other optimizations to the Realme 3 Pro. The Realme 3 Pro comes with TouchBoost, an all-around in-depth optimization for touch control in games that helps in 1. Shorten system reaction time; 2. Shorten image frame response and 3. Prioritize the CPU support on touch controls. With TouchBoost, response time for character movement in heavy games can be 16.2% faster. The other optimization feature, FrameBoost helps optimize graphics on realme 3 Pro. It can detect heavy-loaded scenarios, and then boost the processor at a high frequency to keep the frame rate at a high and stable level. FrameBoost improves the frame rate by 38% on the realme 3 Pro.
Realme 3 Pro comes in 2 variants; 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM at INR 13,999/- and 6GB RAM +128GB ROM at INR 16,999/- in 3 exquisite colors, Carbon Grey, Nitro Blue, and Lightning Purple.
In Conclusion
What Realme has been able to accomplish is to challenge the status quo by offering real value for money with some leading specs, a good camera set-up, ample battery, and backing it with a good charging system. The brand loyalty in the value for money segment is not so strong, and consumers always look for a better value proposition. Whichever brand is able to offer it, takes the cake.
And, that spells bad news for established players in the segment.
