Intel has announced a major leadership overhaul as it seeks to regain ground against AMD, Arm, and TSMC. The reshuffle includes the departure of products chief Michelle Johnston Holthaus and the creation of a central engineering group led by Srinivasan Iyengar to focus on horizontal engineering and custom silicon for external customers.

Kevork Kechichian, a veteran from Arm, NXP, and Qualcomm, will lead Intel’s data center group, signaling a renewed push to improve power efficiency and compete in the fast-growing AI and hyperscaler markets. Naga Chandrasekaran’s expanded role will integrate foundry operations, aimed at tighter execution and better service for customers seeking alternatives to TSMC and Samsung.

Analysts remain cautious, citing Intel’s past missteps and continuing market share losses. They emphasize the need to restore OEM confidence and avoid disruption to its AI PC and enterprise strategy.

“There is cautious optimism that these moves will deliver, provided Intel executes with speed – closing competitive gaps, restoring investor confidence, and charting a sustainable path for long-term growth.”
